The Filter Factory

The Filter Factory was begun as a manufacturer of string-wound filter cartridges in October, 1988 in Yuma, Arizona. At that time, the company was a sole proprietorship owned by Jerry Paulin, who had over 10 years experience in the filtration industry, both in sales and manufacturing. He was attracted to Yuma because of the lack of competitors in the western United States, a readily available labor force, location on an interstate highway serviced by major truck lines and, most importantly, a significant market on the west coast. A second line of filter products, micron-rated filter bags, was added in 1991, and has proven to be a successful complement to the cartridge line. The business was incorporated in the State of Arizona in 1994. The President is Jerry Paulin; Secretary/Treasurer is Brenna Paulin. They are the only shareholders in the company. In the eleven years since its inception, The Filter Factory has grown from 1 to 22 employees, expanded from 5,000 square feet of manufacturing space to 50,000 square feet of space, and extended its 8-hour day to 10 hours for greater production. All of the factory’s state of the art manufacturing equipment was designed and built in-house. The Filter Factory products are sold world-wide through a network of distributors. Over 50 distributors currently represent these products. Some of the end-users of The Filter Factory products are Dupont, Chevron, Texaco, Shell, Carolina Circuits, Fuji-Hunt, General Electric, Amgen, and Koch Nitrogen. In 1994, The Filter Factory began a partnership with Fuji Filter, Japan, and has seen steady growth in the overseas market since that time. In addition, The Filter Factory has also been successful bidder on several contracts to supply filter cartridges to the U.S. Department of Defense. During 1999, The Filter Factory moved into a 50,000 square foot manufacturing facility, giving them 5 times their previous working space. The extra room helped to facilitate the development of two new filter lines, activated carbon cartridges, and pleated paper cartridges. With the new lines complementing the current products, The Filter Factory is able to offer more "one-stop shopping" to its distributors. With the ability to produce over 250,000 different combinations of filter cartridges and 3,000 different combinations of filter bags, The Filter Factory can offer complete serviced to its customers. This combines with the hands-on management and 24-hour pager access to make a superior choice of filter manufacturer.
